Why choose equine massage therapy?
October 5th, 2020 / By Lisa Ross
Well, there are a lot of different reasons! Horses are built much like humans, made up of bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments, and if you have ever enjoyed a massage yourself, you know how good it can feel!
Many horses suffer from similar issues and injuries we do; pain, stiffness, soreness, sprains and strains. Massage therapy can help to reduce recovery time and optimize performance at any and all levels. At triOS College, London Campus, we teach students how to specifically help horses using a variety of techniques. Our program is set up to provide students with the theory behind the techniques, so you will have a much better understanding of the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’. The 2200-hour program is split roughly in half, 50% theory and 50% hands-on in a barn, to provide students with the best education possible in this field.
COVID-19 has certainly created a challenge for the Equine Massage Therapy program, but that has not stopped triOS from educating our students. We are still practicing massage in barn, just in smaller groups and with all precautionary measures set out by Ministries, the College, and individual barns. With smaller class sizes in barn, this has created a wonderful opportunity for more 1-on-1 time between instructors and students. We have 4 wonderful equine instructors to guide students through lectures and hands-on lessons in a variety of different courses such as equine management & behaviour, anatomy & physiology, conformation & kinesiology, and massage techniques & treatments.
If you have ever dreamed of working with horses in some capacity, we hope you will consider Equine Massage Therapy!
