For Nkem Sarah Oobo, the journey to becoming a Personal Support Worker (PSW) was driven by her deep passion for helping others. A graduate of the PSW program, Nkem reflects on her transformative educational experience and the motivation that brought her to this career path.
“I have a passion for helping people in services,” she shares. “So I decided to take on this course to enhance my career path.”
Nkem’s decision to enroll in the program was not taken lightly. Encouragement from trusted friends and acquaintances who had previously attended the same school played a significant role. “I got a lot of referrals,” she explains. “People who had gone to the school said good things about it—the way the program is run, the coordinators, the teachers, and the school as a whole.”
Her experience lived up to the glowing recommendations. Nkem praises the supportive and seamless learning environment fostered by the faculty. “The learning process is very easy. Yes, everybody studies, but the teachers and professors make it very seamless for you. They carry you along and literally walk with you throughout the program,” she says.
Her enthusiasm is clear as she reflects on her choice to pursue the PSW program. “It’s a good choice. It’s a perfect choice,” she adds, emphasizing her gratitude for the supportive community that helped her succeed.
Nkem’s story highlights the power of education, mentorship, and passion in pursuing a meaningful career. With her training and commitment to service, she is now well-prepared to make a positive impact in her field, helping others with compassion and professionalism.
